Desulfurized activated carbon is widely used in flue gas desulfurization in thermal power plants, oil refining, petrochemical industry, chemical fiber industry, raw gas desulfurization in fertilizer industry, desulfurization of coal gas and natural gas, and other chemical gas desulfurization.

The basic principle of activated carbon desulfurization:
1. Remove S from H2 gas
A small amount of H2S and O2 react under the catalytic action of activated carbon on the gas surface.
The reaction of H2O is carried away by a large amount of airflow, and elemental sulfur is adsorbed on the surface of activated carbon pores, completing the removal of H2S.
2. Removal of organic sulfur in gas
COS accounts for more than 95% of all organic sulfur. Under the catalysis of activated carbon at room temperature, COS hydrolyzes with gaseous water in the gas to form H2S and CO2. Then it is adsorbed and removed by activated carbon.
Notes: 1. In the gas source that needs to be desulfurized, if the oxygen content is less than 2 times the sulfide content or there is no oxygen, oxygen should be added to the specified index or other desulfurizers, and the desulfurization method should be modified. 2. In the desulfurization operation, the activated carbon should be liquid or wet entrained. Due to a large amount of wet water, the pores of the activated carbon are filled with water, and the lost gas cannot diffuse to the surface of the activated carbon to play a desulfurization role. 3. For desulfurization gases other than NH3+, that is, there is no alkaline gas component, please note that alkali-impregnated activated carbon should be used 4. During transportation and storage, it should be strictly protected from rain and moisture, and kept cool and dry. 5. During the production and application process, be careful to prevent tar substances from entering the activated carbon layer. Since the surface of the activated carbon after the tar substances closes the surface and pores, it will lose desulfurization activity and fail. |
