The powdered activated carbon circulating in the market is processed by two processes.
The two processes of powdered activated carbon processing are physical production and chemical production.
The powdered carbon produced by physical method refers to the powdered carbon that is activated by steam, refined and crushed.
It is mostly used for decolorization and impurity removal of products such as medicine, food additives, monosodium glutamate, chemicals, beverages, etc., and is also suitable for water purification industry.
The raw materials used in the powdered activated carbon produced by the chemical method are the same as those produced by the physical method. However, the powdered carbon produced by the chemical method uses zinc chloride and phosphoric acid as activators, and is refined by carbonization and activation. The activated carbon processed by this process has strong adsorption capacity and obvious impurity removal effect.
The powdered activated carbon prepared by the chemical method is mostly used for the decolorization and refining of sugars such as glucose, sucrose, and maltose, as well as the removal, purification and refining of macromolecular pigments in citric acid, cystine, oils and fats, and chemical products.
